Love. Love. Love!!! Yarn shop. I don’t have a favorite right now, but always enjoy exploring.
My favorite yarn shop is one I found on vacation this year… The Yarn Club in Virginia Beach, VA. They were so much fun I went twice in one week. They were super helpful and they have SO MUCH YARN and in such amazing colors and they stock so many indie dyers’ yarns. They are very active in social media also, so I love seeing what they will post everyday…. new yarn and other fun stuff they get in stock like crazy bags, links to patterns and photos of projects. I want to move there just so I can go to this shop.
The Flying Needles in Williamsburg, VA!
My favorite yarn shop is Coveted Yarn in Gloucester, MA. I love to go and sit and knit. The owner, Robert Porter encourages knitters and crocheters to come in the shop and chat, knit, crochet and share ideas etc. Very welcoming atmosphere. I especially like to go on Saturday afternoon with my friend Sharon.
I am from Jacksonville, Florida, but my favorite yarn shop is Asheville NC Homecrafts in the Grove Arcade. I have been stopping by once a year to see Marie, and buy some of her fabulous yarn. Her local yarns are absolutely incredible. I cannot say enough about her kindness and friendliness. That, plush great products, make one FABULOUS yarn shop!
My LYS, of course! Kid Ewe Knot in Bridgeville PA
We like each other so much that we travelled to Scotland in the spring on a Whisky and Wool tour with Rowan Tree Travel.
The best yarn shop around northeast Ohio is Brackenmoss Farm Fine and Rare Fibers. It’s a new shop in our small town of Madison. The owner is wonderful and raises rare sheep for their fiber (and as pets – she loves them). The shop is a delight of different fibers to feel and read about and a wide variety of yarns. It’s worth a stop if you’re ever driving through Ohio on Rt 90. It’s less than a mile off the freeway.

You can find out more at kideweknot.com.
I used to drive 45 minutes from my home in El Cajon to Village Yarn and Sweater Co. In Fallbrook, Ca. The owner Jan Mettzger, and her dachshund Hanna, who was the Queen of the shop would help anyone with any problem. Jan taught many to knit and crochet and also did dog training at the local park. Sadly, Jan passed away and my treks came to an end. I still miss those wonderful Saturday’s , knitting with friends.
I feel very fortunate to have L&B Yarn in this college town. I have lost track of time and can’t say how long it’s been since sisters, Amberly and Leslie, opened their centrally located store. They greet regulars by name, make friends with newbies and couldn’t be more helpful. They will impress you with their knowledge and skill in both knitting and crochet. They have coordinated fashion shows and book signings with a local knitting designer, taught many classes, had knit toy drives and knitted knocker drives. If L&B doesn’t carry what you need they will order it or find an appropriate sub. Okay, enough already, I’ll end here, because now I want to go yarn shopping. Norman, OK is lucky to have L&B Yarn.
My favorite yarn store is the Wisconsin Craft Market in Madison, WI! They have a great selection from all over the country and super helpful staff if you have questions.

My favorite yarn store in Rpaid city, SD is “C R Yarn” on West Main! It is a cozy little yarn store tucked away in the black hills!
I was watching a person who looked like they were knitting socks using toothpicks. I was fascinated, every week she would come in and have something else that she was making. I was able to sit down and chat with her one day and she told me of the great place called the Black Purl. She actually arranged for a couple of us to go there and learn how to make socks and tiny needles. We were welcomed and encouraged by others to keep going and we would get the hang of it. That was about 5 years ago, I have continued to knit and learn different techniques in knitting. I have been able to give back to a dear friend Carolie, she was a patient of mine who encouraged me to knit. So when someone comes into the shop and is new I feel it is my turn to encourage that newcomer and welcome them to the wonderful world of knitting. It is a portable stress reliever, and you are able to make wonderful things for friends and family. If ever in Wausau, WI please stop down and see Beth the wonderful owner of The Black Purl. She is a wealth of experience in the knitting and can fix anything and has a great way of teaching others.

I just got back from a week and a half of taking care of Mom who’s a little too close to the Nor Cal wildfires for comfort. There wasn’t a real risk firewise, but her 91 year old lungs needed to stay out of the smoky air. Thankfully she is safe, and the fires are more under control. To get back to the focus of this post, the bus got me back to San Francisco about 9 am. By 11 I was at IMAGIKNIT my favorite LYS>
